Need help starting

How do I set up the printer home function? Where should the extruder be? When I try to print, it stays in the foward corner and also doesn't extrude any of the pla. I can push the pla through the extruder when its hot. I downloaded the firmware from geeetech website and used the 2560 i3prow a+ version. Please help
