Ultrabase much less durable than advertised?

Post by loorac » Wed Sep 08, 2021 6:03 pm

I recently got an Anycubic Ultrabase for my Ultimaker clone kit-printer, to replace the garbage bed it came with. The thing is (was) beautiful and I love it, but in such a short time, due to some Hall sensor leveling issues, I think I've scratched it beyond repair. You can see in the image, the gloss is completely gone in specific patterns.

The thing is, the leveling was never THAT bad. The tip of the nozzle would've been just barely touching the bed -- not even enough to prevent the filament from coming out. On top of that, the Ultrabase advertises that its tempered glass has a Mohs hardness of 8. My brass nozzles have a hardness of only 3, and so they should be much too soft to scratch it that easily. Furthermore, you can see that all the dots from the bed's microtexture are still there.
