GEN 6 Board not moving X Axis

Post by s10blazed » Sun Sep 07, 2014 1:00 am

I got a Gen6 board to replace one on my current 3D printer. I got the new board in and was doing some calibration testing to make sure everything was correct. During this process the X axis stopped working. I had not made any changes to the firmware but I re-uploaded the last known good configuration. That did not fix it. I then swapped the X and Y stepper motors to confirm the motor was OK. The motor works when its connected to the Y header on the board. The Y axis does not work when connected to the X header. This board has less than 30 minutes total power-on time. Is it safe to assume the stepper driver has failed?

hi s10blazed:
1.you can check these signals with Oscilloscope.

enable 0v
dir 0v-5v
step 0v-2.5v
2.if these signals are ok,then maybe the chip drv8811 is broken.
if not then the mcu or the wiring is broken。

Thank you for posting the image. I do not have an oscilloscope to verify the pins. I have swapped stepper motors to confirm it is not the wiring of my printer. Whether it is the stepper driver or the MCU, wouldn't a replacement board be in order since the gen6 is one piece?

The sales staff directed me here to confirm whether the board was bad. As I said, everything was working for about 5 minutes. As I was doing my calibration the X axis suddenly stopped responding. When I swap the X and Y cables on the board to test it, the X motors will work (when controlled as Y) and then the Y axis is not working. Would you agree this sounds like a defective board?
