Fluctuating nozzle temperature and MINTEMP Error

Post by fmrailroading » Wed Apr 22, 2020 1:46 am

Hello,

I have the Geeetech A10T for several months

With the Covid pandemic i am printing a lot of Face Shields for my work en co-workers.
Almost printing continuously for about 500 hours.

I have got the following problems

when printing the first layer, before it is ready i see on the display that the nozzle temperature starts to fluctuate.
it keeps is temperature and it keeps heating as it should be.
if i am printing at 200°C is see it starts tot go between 180-200 after a few seconds it gets between 150-200 always hopping to different temps.
until the error displays Unable to print MINTEMP, it is the failsafe that occurs when minimum printing temperature is not reached.
while it is 200°C i checked it with Infrared gun.
If the printer is not moving it stays stable, when the X or Y axes are moving the fluctuating starts very little until big differences occurs as described above

Hi

I have an Identical issue, Printing PPE (for NHS, Home Carers & Nursing homes in local area and Glasgow royal) fine since end Feb almost non stop then about a week ago hot end temp started jumping around when it stars to print and then MinTemp error shows and have to reset printer. No more PPE till I get it repaired.

Same printer (A10), Same time period (recieved printer mid December).

My A10 does not have this motherboard, nor are the thermistor cables swapable as all the cables from the hot end are run down the same line to a multi connector.

Hi Comrie,

If your Multimeter capable, I'd be checking Voltages and current.
You can try running a PID tune on the Hotend but it is more likely the thermistor so hold your multimeter on that while it is running and see what happens.

Another thought when you say "Its fine when it is not moving" sort of makes me think if the PSU is on its way out...Again, multimeter to confirm.
If you need a guide to perform the PSU tests with a multimeter, then I suggest staying away from it as you could kill yourself.

I'd also connect to a PC and run a "verbose" output to see if Marlin is throwing messages that the LCD isnt displaying. Have you tried this?

Best of Luck Dude!

Hi,

since a few days I have the same problem.
Fluctuating temperatures and MINTEMP errors.

when i move the hotend slowly by hand I can see the temperature change to -14°C (yes MINUS).
And the DL Touch is initiating when moving the hotend.

I Think my problems are shaky contacts.
Is there any way to get a new cable and pcb?
