Extruder stops working begin of print

Post by derdiek » Fri Sep 11, 2020 9:24 pm

Hi.
I just got a new A30 Pro, did the bed levelling and tried printing from SD-Card.
It starts the print, draws the skirt, then makes a strange noise and stops extruding.
I attached photos of the menu settings and a video. What can I do to fix that problem?

Hello, by observing your video and pictures, your extruder should have a problem. The link below introduces the cause of the failure and repair methods in great detail. Please refer to the following methods to try to solve the problem. :D

I did some more investigation.
If I extrude from the filament menu, it works fine in both directions and it sounds normal.
So I can exclude a driver/motor/extrusion/cabling problem I think.

Temperature is shown at 210°, so this is no reason to stop the extruder.

And as even the factory gcode file is not working, I can exclude slicer settings. With a benchy sliced by Cura the same error occurs.

Whats left over?
Printer firmware, control board, ..? Where does this strange sound come from? I will disconnect the other motors to see if its the extruder motor.

I opened the chassis and checked the VRef of the Stepper Drivers.
The extruder had 1.38V, which is far too high. I changed it to 1.00V.

Unfortunately this wasnt the solution, the problem still exists.

I really like the printer design, but I think I have to return it. I cannot print.

The driver module for E0 seems to be broken. If I put it to X or Y the motors move like crazy.

I'm also having extrusion issues.
When I load the filament and let it run the flow is consistent and just as it should.
It prints the skirt to the most part of it but when it comes to the actual item I'm printing the filament just stop flowing and you can hear that the extruder has a clicking sounds every few seconds.
I tried to adjust the spring of the extruder and neither tight or loose will do the same and in the middle it's also the same.
It just stopped printing properly after about 5 successful prints and it's a brand new printer.
The nozzle isn't clogged and there is no reason for it to happen just like that.
I'm using S3D as a slicer which worked with all of my geeetech printers.

There are many reasons why your 3D printer might stop extruding halfway through a print. It could be due to the filament, incorrect temperature, a clog in the extrusion system and much more.

Seems like it's a problem with my S3D and the fff profile I'm using.
Can anyone point me to a good profile I can use?
