Dual Extruder upgrade
Hi, I am quite happy with my upgraded I3 Alu but I am missing a second extruder for Support material using PVA. Is there a chance to upgrade the I3Alu to dual Extruder (not color mixing) without loosing significant working range or can someone recommend a alternative 3D-printer similar (or bigger) t...

Re: Geeetech prusa i3 Aluminum diy with GT2560 board settings and firmware
Hi Oliver, I don't know if you have already found a solution but I have done almost the same. I have upgraded to a GT 2560 Board but I added TMC 2208 drivers for XYZ as well as a BLTouch Sensor and a 12864 graphic display. I was able to adapt the configuration file of Marlin 1.1.9 Please check the m...

Re: What stepper motors are used with the i3Alu - current adjustment
Hi William,
the direction is OK. I just want to know the nominal current to adjust my new driver boards.
It is a regular I3 Aluminum stepper motor.

Re: Use PC Power Supply instead of Geeetech PSU!?!
Hi,
I will switch to a PC ATX power supply as well.
As you mentioned there is a silent 120mm fan in the PSU, No 230V parts outside, A 5V standby supply for my Octoprint Pi, and I can switch the PSU on/off through Octoprint.
Best regards

What stepper motors are used with the i3Alu - current adjustment
Hi,
Does anyone knows details (voltage/current) about the stepper motors used with the i3 Alu?
I am using new driver boards (TMC2208) and want to adjust the motor current.
Best regards
Onki

Re: Marlin 1.1.9 on GT2560? Not enough space?
Hi, I spent the last weekend upgrading my i3 Alu to a GT 2560 Rev A+ board in a self printed case and 3D Touch sensor as well as 2 TMC2208 drivers. I also got several error messages but they were not related to memory issues. It took me a while to sort out these errors and finally I managed to uploa...

Re: BLTouch Sensor - how to change the firmware
Hi, meanwhile I sorted out the hardware problem. The drawing of the 3DTouch sensor port in this thread http://www.geeetech.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=66&t=60915 is extremely misleading. The signal pin is brown although the original color is orange. After turning the connector 180° (with the orange si...

Housing for display / Encoder
Hi, I am looking for STL files for an external housing for my I3 Alu. The encoder knob reduces the maximum Z height and I want to place and fix the whole assembly in front of the printer (like the genuine Prusa printer). In the front position the display/encoder is easier to handle in my printer cas...

BLTouch Sensor - how to change the firmware
Hi, I have managed some changes on my i3 Alu over the past few weeks. The control board was changed to a GT2560 (Rev A+) with TMC2208 on X and Y. I have used Marlin 1.1.9 from this forum which was adjusted to my configuration. This works well. Then I ordered the BL Touch sensor, printed the holder a...

Re: How to calibrate the print size?
Hi, I managed to calibrate my I3 Aluminium without touching the source code. First I checked the current setting for X/Y axis using GCode M503. Since the printout was about 2,5% too small I have multiplied the current factors (78.74) to get the corrected value of 80.71. The new value was sent to the...
