I received advice from my carrier (AT&T) that 2G devices will no longer be usable after 12/31/2016.
Can someone suggest an alternative 3G device on a breakout board? I am currently using a sim900 (2G)
fabricated by Geeetech.
Thank you.

Power Jack VIN max voltage
I am working on project using the sim900. Please tell me the maximum voltage that can Be safely applied to power jack? The description says 4.8 to 5 volts. When you examine the board the vin is applied to a variable voltage regulator, so it appears a higher voltage Would be okay. I would like to use...

the board. Thank you.

software power the sim900 via software
I have had success with programming the SIM900 using a parallax propeller micon. I still have a problem with powering the sim900 via software. The instructions say: • 2, Software Triger; If use this way to power up the GPRS Shield, JP need to be soldered, then Digital Pin 9 of the Arduino will act a...

software power the sim900 module
Please help, I just started with the sim900 breakout board. I am confused by the instructions on the wiki. It says if I want to use software to power up the module, that I must solder “JP”. I cannot find anything labeled JP. I suspect it is referring to the Arduino, but don’t know. Please tell me wh...
