New printer no y home

Post by gsakatch » Thu May 21, 2020 2:47 pm

Just finished building an i3 pro W.

Can't for the life of me get the Y axis to home properly.

If i hit auto home, it moves a couple of mms and stops. The display changes from what ever number it was at, and resets to 0.

I have gone through all the steps i can find here...arduino firmware update...reverse Y direction.

If i just go to control it, it is moving in the correct direction (I think)...+ movement would be away from the end stop i believe.

If I manually set it up in what is essentially a 0 position, and tell it to move 50 + it moves to position 50. I then tell it to home, and it jumps a couple more mms forward, stops, and sets the display to 0.

Am i crazy, or is something bad out of the box here?

Hi,my friend,do you mean that the Y-axis cannot be homing? Can you move it manually?
if so,you can do this:
First check the connection of the X-axis motor to see if it is connected incorrectly. If the connection is correct, replace the X-axis motor with the Y-axis. If the X motor still cannot turn, the X motor is dead.
Similarly, you can swap motor drives or motor wires to see if they are dead.

Thanks William....feel a bit stupid this morning...after so much tweaking with the firmware to reverse the motor directions, and re doing the wiring, i discoverd i had put the Y endstop wire back on he wrong connection,

Fixing that, and reversing the Y motor direction has solved that problem.

Bit of an issue with the extruder...i think it might be going the wrong way as well..so that is next on the list.

Hi, Glenn.
Where is the problem with the extruder?
You can upload a compressed video file here so that I can better judge.
