New build, ERR:MAXTEMP

Post by AxeGrinder » Mon Apr 23, 2018 1:19 am

Hi, Noob here... I finished buildng my Pro W build a few days ago, and have been waiting for Geetech to get back to me about this error message when I turn the machine on.
"err:maxtemp" displays on the lower line of LCD, see attachment for a photo of the screen.
Printer connects OK to PC, but I don't want to dabble, due to this error, is anyone familiar with this? Have I made an error, or is it something else?

looks like the heatbed or hotend is reaching max temp which then shuts if off (safety feature)
might want to check the wiring of both and also firmware to see what the max/min temps are set at.

Hello
I had similar problem. If you have multimeter, then you can check rezistance on connector from temp. senzor for hotend. Correct value is 100k ohms.
I my case was about 1ohm (short) and it was caused by small worm in the hotend witch fix thermal senzor in position.

I had the same problem, if you still need a solution, I have it. Thank goodness I resolved it quickly.
Notice where the hot head heat power and the Thermistor leads enters the head, at that point on the left side, place a small slit near the front through the Kapton tape and minor insulation, you will notice a small set-screw, back out the set-screw re leaving some pressure of the Thermistor, watch the temp change to an ambient room temp (17-20*c depending on how hot your room is).
It looks like to me the Spec for tork on that set-screw had been dis regarded.
Let me know if that helps.
good luck.

rjorthmann, you are a legend! Having spent an hour twidling the extruder thermistor wire getting intermittent room temp and 358 degrees your post releasing the set screw has solved it. Many thanks :D
