Home position on the A30, off to front left

Post by SirSunshine » Sun Sep 02, 2018 7:08 am

Hello,

Love my A30 but I noticed that the Home coordinates of the A30 are actually off the plate. They land on the front left of the plate by about 5mm on the x and y axis. This results in prints not being centered. Suspecting this may be an issue when I print really large items. I've already had to adjust printer start profiles for starting blobs which were off the plate.

I tried adjusting with an M206 Home Offsets command but still no change. I'm assuming that gcode is not supported. (http://marlinfw.org/docs/gcode/M206.html)

Anyone know if this is normal?

Thanks,

Chuck

Chuck,

I actually adjusted the "print area" in the smartto motor tool to be 330mm x 350mm. This actually takes the print head to the travel extents. Then in software, you can set up the printer with a pad, or dump area of 10x20mm. This seemed to work great for me with repetier.

Try to set up "Bed left" and "Bed front" value (in repetier host) as 5 mm for example, then load the model, center it.

Thanks for the suggestions. I'm OK with this for now but if I push something really large out, I'm going to need to compensate. If might be set off the plate to accommodate the weird Z homing function that bounces to find 0 when you hit up. If that was on the bed, it would be an issue.
