help needed with x axis

Post by Mrs_Wow » Sat Apr 01, 2017 4:16 am

hi there

I have built my printer and everything is working great - except the x axis.

It will not move at all, you can hear motor running but it just does not move,

I did some tinkering and managed to get it to move a little bit but when it moved it was very juddery.

Im starting to worry that i might have recieved it with a faulty part or something - can anyone help me out as to why it wouldnt be working?

It just makes a loud noise and wont move at all.

this one should be easy to diagnose.... remove the belt from the stepper motor. Turn on the printer and navigate on the LCD panel to move the X-Axis. If the motor spins perhaps the drive current on the stepper motor driver board is set too low. You did say you saw the motor move? Take a look at this forum and YouTube on how to properly adjust the drive current on the stepper motor modules.

You could swap the cables at the GT2560 board (assuming you have this board) with Y-Axis. And test that way. Could be one of a few issues.

1. drive current set too low.
2. cable to the motor is wired wrong (compare with the other motors).
3. faulty driver board (I had that issue).
