Broken Motherboard

Post by ne14pez » Mon Jul 07, 2014 10:36 pm

I purchased a motherboard (Printrboard rev. D) from you. http://www.geeetech.com/new-version-rep ... p-653.html

The first time I used it, the channel connecting power to mosfet burnt within the first 5 seconds. The board is now junk. I read on some forums that a lot of people had that problem and you have redesigned the new boards not to do that. I would like to get a replacement for my faulty board. I attached a picture of the board with an arrow pointing to the problem. Thank you.

My order # is 20130922200754291. I bought this as a backup and never plugged it in until 5 days ago when my old board stopped working.

I do not know what you mean by "show me your connection with the board and the use steps". What do you want me to show you?

Thanks

Dear Ne14pez,

Thank you for your reply.
The most improtanct is we have test all the products before we shipping out, so we are sure that it is in good condition when we it shipped out. But we are serious seller, I will try my best to help you solve this problem.
1. As a friendly reminder, you should check the board can work properly or not when you received. It been a long time after you received, it maybe some impurity and dust into the board and make it short circuit.
2. Please kindly check if you connected it in the wrong direction with power. etc......
There are mang reason cause the board damage,I want to confirm and find out the problem. So would you please kindly you show me how can you connect the board with cable and tell me how can you use it step by step.
Waiting for your comment.

Best regards

Everything was connected correctly. I tested polarity with a multimeter. I was able to connect with USB and move the motors with no problem. As soon as I turn on power to the hotbed and hot end, it started to heat up but then I smelled burning and it stopped heating up. I unplugged everything and the board was burnt like I showed in the picture. No impurity or dust could have gotten into the board because it remained in it's original packaging until last week.

You cannot tell me that you do not know about this problem. Many other people had the same problem. They say that you have recently made changes to the board so that it works better. I would like one of the newer versions that does not burn out. Read some other people's posts:

Even your own website has reviews that talk about this problem: http://www.geeetech.com/new-version-rep ... p-653.html ---> "Purchased 4 of these and already burnt 3 because the trace wire from the supply to the hotend/hotbed couldn't handle the current"

Dear Ne14pez,

Thank you for your much infoemation for this.
As I said before, we have test all the products before we shipping out, all the products are in good condition when we shipped out. But we will try my best to help our customers solve the problem when meet it.
So would you please kindly a little more patient and follow these steps:
1.What is the Working voltage and current for the printrboard when it work?
2. Have you connect with the motors when you plug the hotbed, how many motors you connected?
3.The hotbed is short circuit or not when heated it up.
Waiting for your comment.

The voltage from my power supply is 12.29V.
I connected 4 motors.
The hotbed started to heat up and got to about 60 C and then I turned on the hot end and then it burnt. Now there is no continuity to hot end or hotbed.
