how to exchange the super plate?

Post by pplg » Mon Aug 19, 2019 12:34 am

After my superplate had to many scratches, I ordered a new one for replacement.
But now I only go the "glass".
How can I disassemble the old super plate and install my new super plate withoud distroing anything?

Your hints and recomendations are very welcome.

Hi, You can remove the hot bed by replacing it with the screws under the hot bed.

Hello William
Thanks for your answer, but I am afraid, you misunderstood me.
I only got "the glas plate without the metalplate and screws attached".
On the glas plate, there are no screws (I guess it is glued to a Kind of metal plate.

HI, Oh, you are referring to the glass plate,
which should be bonded to the aluminum substrate.
Or you can try to clamp it with an insulated long tail clip.
I hope this can help you.

Yes, I am referring to the glass plate,
which should be bonded to the aluminum Substrate.
But how can I
1) separate the old glass plate from the aluminium Substrate
2) bond the new glass plate to the old aluminium Substrate
...without distroing neither the new glass plate nor the old aluminium Substrate?

Didn't you use Mylar on your previous hot bed?

I didn't use any other than the originally delivered "super plate".

Hi, It seems that you can't separate it.
If you used to be a combination of an aluminum substrate and a Mylar sheet,
you can tear the Mylar sheet off the aluminum substrate and stick the glass plate on it.
