Thanks appswert Was trying to avoid going through the new Marlin firmware, Geeetech must have removed some stuff from the code. I'm not sure if Geeetech has removed code from the original marlin firmware...
I thaught it's caused because the original firmware simply uses an older version of marlin .

However, I have also been able to test a couple of other fans, including a big 120mm and these are working fine so must be an issue with the blower design. Ok that's good news... Sometimes the Z-Axis is hard to move for the motors because the x-axis is tilted slightly.
